Welcomed in to the courts of the King/
I've been ushered into your presence/
Lord I stand on your merciful ground/
Yet with every step tread with reverence
I've been ushered into your presence/
Lord I stand on your merciful ground/
Yet with every step tread with reverence
And I'll fall facedown
As your glory shines around
Yes I'll fall facedown
As your glory shines around
As your glory shines around
Yes I'll fall facedown
As your glory shines around
Who is there in the heavens like you/
And upon the earth who's your equal/
You are far above you're the highest of heights/
We are bowing down to exalt you
And upon the earth who's your equal/
You are far above you're the highest of heights/
We are bowing down to exalt you
So let your glory shine around!
Let your glory shine around!
King of glory here be found!
King of glory!
Let your glory shine around!
King of glory here be found!
King of glory!

DEVOTION
The two big take aways from this song for me are:
1. God invites us to have a relationship with Him
The first line in this song talks about being welcomed into the court or presence of God. It's a reminder that to be ushered into the kingdom or court of God is to be in His presence. That's a big deal because prior to the shed blood of Jesus man had no right or ability to stand before Sovereign and Holy God. The only way we are able to be in the presence of God is because of the sacrifice of Jesus and because His blood covers our sin. God invites man into a relationship with Himself and it was at the cost of the blood of His Son Jesus.
The lyrics that describe standing on "merciful ground" invokes images of God calling Moses to remove his shoes because he was standing on "holy" ground. What we need to recognize about this picture is that the ground itself wasn't holy. The only reason why the ground was holy was because it was where God was. The ground became Holy because the presence of the Lord concecrated it. What an important reminder and application for the Christian life. Those who have repented from sin and believe that Jesus sacrifice for our sins gives us a relationship with God are continually in God's presence. The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer so that every where we go we are on "holy" ground because the Lord is with us. When we are at work, home or play are we living in a way that shows reverence and humility for the person of God being right next to us?
2. My response to God's invitation is worship/thankfulness
"Facedown." The chorus is a call to action. It's an example of the response a worshipper should have to the invitation to be in the presence of God. When we recognize that being invited into God's presence came at the cost of Jesus blood will we have an attitude of thankfulness and humility? Christians can all to easily take for granted the invitation into God's presence. This is because we forget that God is Holy. We forget that we are sinful and stand condemned before God because we are unrighteous and have offended God. It's only because of Jesus that we can stand in front of God. Falling facedown before God both acknowledges that God is Holy and shows our thankfulness to God by adopting a position of humility.
Jesus says that God seeks those who worship in spirit and truth. God is seeking out authentic worshipers and the first step to being an authentic worshiper is being humble before the Lord.
